New Madinah Airport Preparing For Pilgrims Season

The huge expansion plan for Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, which has been approved by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, is designed to accommodate about 30 million passengers, mostly pilgrims, annually.

“The expansion will be carried out in three phases during a period of 30 years,” said Abdullah Al-Ruhaimy, president of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA). The first phase, which is to accommodate 12 million passengers, will be ready by 2019.
