People Should Care About Global Warming

"Evil (sins and disobedience to Allah) has appeared on land and sea, because of what the hands of mens have earned (by oppression and evil deeds), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return (by repenting to Allah and begging His pardon" Al Qur'an surah ArRuum ayat 41)
Global warming actually has changes most of our life. Almost everyday or even every hour we see by the local TV or international media about how the climate change have made many disasters everywhere. Not only in my country. Why it's happened.
As the Qur'an said these are because of the hands of mens.
And recently the new research said that we should be looking to the earth not only to the sky. Means that to stop global warming we have to be concern more than before on forestry and stop to cut the forest.
Scientists at the University of Toronto Scarborough have published research findings in the journal Nature Geoscience, 2 that show global warming actually changes the molecular structure of organic matter in soil.
University of Massachusetts Amherst researchers have added a new source of carbon dioxide to the complex climate change puzzle by showing that ancient rocks can release substantial amounts of organic matter into Earth’s rivers and oceans, and that this organic matter is easily converted by bacteria to carbon dioxide, which enters the atmosphere and contributes to climate change.
A new study by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wyoming predicts that by the year 2100, many of today's familiar climates will be replaced by climates unknown in today's world, if current rates of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions continue. The new global climate models for the next century forecast the complete disappearance of several existing climates currently found in tropical highlands and regions near the poles, while large swaths of the tropics and subtropics may develop new climates unlike anything seen today.
I just imagine...maybe someday me, my children and also all of you who concern about this issue cannot see the beautiful bird of paradise in my Papua's forest or cannot see such of plantations and animals anymore...
Ask to our selves...do we care about "go Green" or "Global Warming"

The Plastic World : Effect on Fetal Growth & Reproduction

In this modern world, almost all of us use plastics in our everyday life, even in a small part. Almost to be our habit to use plastics, i.e households. Polycarbonate plastics are widely used in a variety of products. The toxic elements in consumer plastics sometimes do not make us concerned of these issue, in this case to our health. So the need to be environmentally responsible and to ensure adherence to regulations of toxic substances requires a clear understanding of the issues and a strong verification program at all stages of producers and consumers.
Exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates and flame retardants (PBDEs) are strongly associated with adverse health effects on humans and laboratory animals. A special section in the October 2008 issue of Environmental Research -- "A Plastic World" -- provides critical new research on environmental contaminants and adverse reproductive and behavioral effects.

Plastic products contain "endocrine disrupting chemicals" that can block the production of the male sex hormone testosterone (phthalates used in PVC plastic), mimic the action of the sex hormone estrogen (bisphenol A or BPA used in polycarbonate plastic), and interfere with thyroid hormone (brominated flame retardants or PBDEs used in many types of plastic). So far, it can affect human, animal and environmental health. [check the source from here please..]

Gardening With Children!

They're curious, like to learn by doing, and love to play in the dirt.
Working in a garden, a child can experience the satisfaction that comes from caring for something over time and observe the cycle of life firsthand.
Gardening is also a great way to teach environmental awareness by exploring the workings of nature.
(check so far from here...)

kitchen energy saver

The kitchen is the busiest room in the house, and the biggest energy user.
You can lower your monthly energy bill and contribute to a cleaner environment without making major changes or buying expensive energy-saving gadgets. Simple changes, and thought given to energy reduction, will make a significant difference. (the source from here....)

How Green Are You

How green are you?
How do we sustain economic growth while preserving the planet? Every day, we can see people who have thought of a solution and are putting it into practice.
How eco-friendly are you? What changes have you made to your life to become a more environmentally-conscious person? What tips can you offer to the rest of us? This is my story and share to you on how to go green.

Here is what I’m doing in my house. There’s no food waste, that is the way that I always say to my children. No plastics when we’re shopping, because I always take my huge bags that I sew it myself. We have some beautiful orchids and some plants that can make my house look greener.

All About: Food waste
Food biodegrades, so where is the problem?
When food rots, it releases methane, a greenhouse gas which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says is 20 times more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide (CO2).
The developed world chucks out a lot of food.
The U.N. World Food Programme offers another way of looking at it: It says the total surplus of the U.S. alone could satisfy "every empty stomach" in Africa (France's leftovers could feed the Democratic Republic of Congo; and Italy's could feed Ethiopia's undernourished).

It is the environmental concerns around food waste that is driving the push for reform on how to treat the problem of leftovers. Methane, the gas food waste produces, traps 23 times as much heat in the atmosphere as the same amount of CO2, the EPA says. And landfills are the place you will find most of it -- they account for 34 percent of all methane emissions in the U.S.
But ironically, one of the solutions to dealing with food waste actually results in a product that could keep cars on the road: Biogas.
Biogas is a by-product of a process called anaerobic digestion (AD). AD is a process where organic matter -- such as food waste -- breaks down in an environment with little or no oxygen, generating a natural gas made up of 60 percent methane and 40 percent CO2. It is the exact process, in fact, which goes on in landfills. But there is a difference.
Whereas methane can be harmful to the environment in an open setting, such as a landfill, in controlled and closed settings such as a combined heat and power plant, it can be harnessed and converted into biogas, a renewable energy. And that energy can be used to provide heat, light and fuel. Most organic matter can be processed with AD.
According to the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health, gas from sewage waste and landfills is already being used to provide 650 MW of electricity to the UK's national grid, representing between 60 and 75 percent of the country's green energy (the UK is Europe's biggest producer of biogas).
The country that is leading the way in putting its biodegradable waste mountains to good use -- particularly in the world of biogas-powered cars -- is Sweden.
Then…how about us in Indonesia? We still remember 2-3 years ago not so far from Jakarta, people in Bekasi refused wastes from Jakarta being sent to landfills traditional sewage treatment.
until now there is no solution to solve the problem. Thus we can change the waste to become energy
